The bansko bus station isn't the newest one and not good structured at all. It happens, that a bus scheduled at a time doesn't come (more often on Sundays). Than maybe 2h later the staff at the Station said to me.You can take busses to blagoevgrad and than take a next one to Sofia!Sometimes they're just mini Busses to some places. It happened to me that the driver says no the buss is full and I have to get the next one in 1h. Bad if you have an appointment or somebody other waiting for you.

It's like you enter the world of a video game set somewhere in Chernobyl.There's an old cafeteria with blurred windows and surrounded by leaves and vines that have tangled the walls and climbed upwards. Inside two drunk men were having drinks and the lady behind the counter looked like a happy NPC.The People selling the tickets were extremely rude and without knowledge of English, professionalism, or social skills whatsoever.We did get our tickets after using Google translate and they literally shouted because we could not understand how much money they were asking for.We are now inside a bus with a driver that drives slower than a turtle mixed with a sloth and we are hoping to complete our journey to Sofia in less than 5 hours.We are also currently stopped in the middle of the street for more than 30 minutes.I would suggest you avoid Bulgaria altogether.

You can only buy tickets 3 days in advance, at the station. No one speaks English, the timetables are in Bulgarian also. And the woman behind the counter stole our coins and claimed we never gave them to her, so we had to pay twice. Be very wary and do not exchange money before showing them you have the full amount, or you too will be likely ripped off.

I been using the bus station for 11 years now, its a big old communist building, big and grand looking but with very little inside. Strange system here, most times you pay the driver on the bus, but sometimes you have to get a ticket from the ticket office inside. They just put up new bus time tables, on the door and on the ticket office window, they have not updated the time tables on the Bansko website online though. NOTHING is in English, but i been coming for so long i know what the places are. The staff DO NOT speak English, dont want to know because they cannot understand, and have a tendancy to shout at you, i think this goes back to communist days cause everyone in a job that deals with the public seem to do this when asked a question. I shouted back telling her not to shout at me, now she is all smiles with me, every time and me all smiles back to her. You have to pay to use the one room toilet at the back left side, but its to pay for a cleaner i think, we got it easy in the UK, and there is also a little boothe selling snacks as you go in. There is a taxi office at the back on the right and taxis out front, but i never use taxis in Bulgaria, if i can help it, because they are all lying, conning, thieves who will make up a price different to whats on the clock, even though the clock has been fixed so they can make it spin faster, and will take you a long way to get to where you asked or somewhere different and say you asked to go there. I have had a bus driver go down the top part of my rucksack a month ago, only once in 11 years its happened though, because he see that i was not Bulgarian and had a big bag, he just could not resist it, i should have done something to him, but in 11 years i have learnt NEVER TO PUT ANYTHING VALUABLE IN ANY BAG THAT GOES OUT OF MY SIGHT IN BULGARIA. The buses have always come on time more or less for me. I never buy a ticket online because they just let people on and if the bus is full you wont get your seat if you can get on it. All in all if you remember you are not in the uk, where we got it easy, and stop expecting things you will be ok.

The lady at the desk was really helpful and spoke good English. Got the ticket, correct change and the building is the most unique bus station I've seen :)Got the ticket the day before, no dramas.Maybe they had a change of staff. Great work!

The woman working there was harassing me and saying to her friends with an attitude that I used the toilet which should be public by the way since it is in a bus station and she was expecting me probably to pay for it. The toilet was disgusting, I entered to wash my hands and the smell was disturbing and on the top of that she wanted me to pay for just entering the space of it.

Birçok Yerli ve yabancı turistin geldiği kayak Merkezi ve konaklama yeri olan Banskoya bu kadar yakın olan böyle bir otobüs garını yakıştıramadım,şaşırdım.Bina bakımsız ve sanki terk edilmiş halde.Bansko Merkezde birçok Otel Restaurant ve mağazalar bulunmasına rağmen ilgisizlik ve sanki sahipsizlik hakimmiş gibi.

One of the worst lifetime experiences. The building is very old and dark, with no heating and only 1 light on, the toilets is a combination of disgust and filth that you need to pay 0.5 leva to use. The online data is wrong, I tried all different websites I found online but all seamed to be inaccurate with conflicted information of timetable and tickets costs. The phone number was wrong, even the personal of the hotel we stayed and 2 restaurants we asked didn’t know how or what to do.There is not a single thing written in English and nobody knows English at this place. They only speak Bulgarian and the are VERY rude when you try to speak English. They will shout at you and just walk away!!The old lady at the counter doesn’t speak English and she is extremely hostile. We went there 2h before the last bush departure which was 17:23 and by using google translate we explained we wanted 2 tickets to Sofia and she said that we should by from them while on the bus. We patiently waited for the bus to arrive which arrived at 17:54 (21’ late). Although she sold tickets to other people we thought it was for other busses or connection but not for the one we were interested in, but we were wrong as all of them were locals she knew them. We then asked the driver who didn’t knew a word in English and with the help other people we said we had to have tickets from the old lady at the counter! We sneaked in the bus and hoped to get to Sofia. The bus was old, smelly and full of people. The bus station reminded me of some flighty old buddings you see on movies of 2nd war war. At the moment I write this we are on the bus praying not to be checked.Use the bus routes if you only have a local contact who knows how things work, try to avoid on any cost. Worthless.

Although the people are good, the station is really bad. If you haven't travelled before, you won't guess it's a bus station. It is really small, the toilet is paid and you have to ask for the key and return it, there is only one coffee/shop and it's really not good. The only benches are inside the small station, the buses come and go without any kind of notice... Only 50 meters away is the railway station, which is a whole different story.
